A foundation that endures
The firm grew from the practice that Yavuz Selim Terzioğlu opened in Istanbul, after graduating from Istanbul University Faculty of Law. He has since taken part in professional programmes organised by Harvard University.
Before turning to law full time, he had held senior positions inside a commercial organisation, coming to understand insurance operations, commercial risk, claims and regulation from within, and seeing first-hand the practical pressures under which businesses actually decide.
He carried that perspective into practice, developing particular strength in insurance and maritime law alongside a broader commercial and dispute-resolution practice, with an approach defined less by procedure than by judgment.
More than three decades on, that founding character still defines the firm. What began as one lawyer's practice now reaches across Istanbul, Northern Cyprus and London, yet the measure of the work is unchanged: rigorous in its analysis, alert to commercial reality, and personally accountable for every matter it takes on.

A closer model of legal counsel
We believe legal advice is most effective when the lawyers responsible for a matter remain directly involved in it, not as distant supervisors of work passed down a chain, but as the people a client actually speaks to and relies on. Rather than fit every problem to a fixed department, we assemble each team around the matter itself, drawing in trusted lawyers and specialists, at home or in another jurisdiction, only where they genuinely add to the work. A client deals with a team that is the right size and shape for the problem in front of them, and never loses sight of who is carrying it.

Legal advice informed by commercial reality
We do not read the law in isolation. Every position we take is weighed against the financial, operational and reputational consequences that travel with it, because advice that is technically correct yet commercially unworkable rarely serves a client well. That discipline matters most where the stakes are highest: in disputes, in insurance and maritime matters, and in the investments and transactions where the real question is not only what the law permits, but what a client should actually do.
